HIKING
Many hiking trails through the Grandes Rousses mountains, or the Ecrins National Park can easily be accessed, whatever your expertise.
Some IGN maps (1:25000), as well as some hiking booklets, can be borrowed directly from the chalet. You can also buy some at the Tourist Office, which will allow you to discover the most fabulous paths Oisans has to offer. Some of our favourites:
- De Villard Reculas à Oz station
An itinerary with almost no ascent nor descent, under the woods, and a stunning view on the Eau-d’Olle Valley and the Belledonne mountains.
- Le plateau d’Emparis
With its wide meadows resembling a small version of Central Asia steppes, plateau d’Emparis is a protected area where flowers bloom over spring and summer, and offers a stunning view on the Meije glaciers.

With 250 km of marked paths, the mountain bike area offers many different ways to enjoy the neighborhood, either with downhill, cross-country, or freeride, not to mention a good old-fashioned family ride.
CYCLING
ideally located 3.5 km away from the legendary Alpe d’Huez climb, Villard-Reculas offers another very nice 11.5 climb starting in Allemond (Eau d’Olle Valley), in the shadow of the trees of the Sardonne forest. The view over Verney Lake is amazing. This itinerary is called “discreet climb to Alpe d’Huez” in most cycling guides.

30 minutes from the chalet, try out this rope park within a pine forest in an amazing landscape, with a stunning view over the Belledonne mountains.
